1 Fitchburg

This home is a 1,000 sf loft in an early 1900s factory, currently used as a large open live/work studio. Ours is a playful and precise intervention, dividing the space into three primary rooms for working, living, and sleeping. The three spaces are reconnected by an enfilade along the window wall, maintaining a sense of length and generosity, while increasing privacy and functionality.

The existing mezzanine is removed to increase light and air into the kitchen. Two new walls are introduced at either end of the loft to create private rooms, each accessed via pocket doors along the window wall. This circulation strategy allows the full length of the space to be rediscovered while maintaining privacy.
